After 5 years of use my tonneau cover was getting a bit tatty (especially as it was made to fit around a previous roll-bar) so I bought some double duck material at Stoneleigh. Two years on and I'm still scratching my head as to how to make it fit neatly around the roll bar. Then shfury turned up at Stoneleigh with this...

So a new project started. First cut and shape the plywood base to the tub profile and paint...

Cover with vinyl and fit...

Then after making up a pattern, the local upholsterer made the tonneau to fit...

Don't think it's as classy as Simons but it'll do.

Very good....you might want to have the middle raised a little (paracord to the rollbar or something) to let the water bead away and not settle.

Doesn't really show in the pictures but I've there's a section of lightweight tent pole across from front to rear. A bracket on the rear panel and a hole in the dash hold it in a flexed arch lifting the centre.

I also get a damp shoulder either hood down in light rain or hood up in heavy rain. So while I was at the upholsterers I had him knock up this...

I'll let you know after this year's tour (next week) whether it works.

Did you not think to have one made with a head sized hole through it....ultimate car poncho !

As every kit owner seems to have thought about that, yet no one has got one, I assume there's a flaw in the idea.

Not being able to see your hands or the steering wheel/instruments leaps to mind.
You'd probable need external help in and out plus it would get pretty hot, at least for the lower parts! In a collision you might end up strangling yourself as well.
So ....no downside !

Very flash, I'll have to come up to your place and you and make me one too.
It's got to be easier than polybushes

Nice job

I like the side deflector as well, hope you've had a good trip down South and it didn't rain too much!
