It's Spring!

It's spring! Taxed the Fury, checked the water, oil and tyres, gave it a wash but too cold outside so did not do a proper safety check, zipped off down the A3, touched the brakes, could not get past 70 (not of course that I would want to do that), smell of something hot. Drums not releasing. Let it cool down, a few emergency stops made things better and got home gently.

Lesson learned.

Best to take the wheels off the rear and hit the drums with a large hammer next spring, or store it without the handbrake on.

Probably worth pulling the drums off and cleaning any rust off the inside with fine emery. It can re-occure whenever the weather is damp otherwise.

Been there done that in 2001 --- I never use the handbrake PERIOD now , just leave in gear or a chock in front of the wheel .

Hitting them with a hammer does appeal. I've been in manufacturing all my life and worked on the motto "Dig it out of the ground cos it's cheap, hit it with a hammer and sell it".

Pulling off the drums also appeals. I will avoid the weeding.
