Phoenix fettling

Postby jeffw » Mon Feb 01, 2016 6:47 pm

Car is down with Steve at Fury Sports cars to get a new 45mm Rollhoop, fit the Dallara ARB, front splitter & rear diffuse plus some wrap on the back of the bodywork to cover the arse end up.

Then it is off elsewhere for a new flywheel/clutch/pedal box and then back to me to get the Geartronics paddle system fitted.

Because the engine is coming out to be fixed, the clutch/flywheel/pedal box are being done by Snodhurst Garage in Chatham. They do a lot of kitcar work. the owner has a cossie engined Tiger R6.

It is a little surprising but it need to be the width of the rollhoop and deep enough to weld the platforms above the fuel tank without setting fire to everything. Once the 'boot lid' is back on it will not be that noticeable.

looking good, have you got all the bits you need for the gear shift now? I will be interested to see how much difference you think the ARB makes, would love to get hold of one myself but I can never find them!

This place is just along the road from you and have been very helpfull at work when I have need pneumatic stuff like the odd fitting here and there right up to full custom pneumatic control panels :) http://controltech.fluidfittingsshop.com/

Almost all, the rest is coming from Plays Kool. The ARB is similar to the one Ady has and it took me ages to find.

There are currently some Lola ones on ebay.com

Whats the plan for the refitting top boot after the welding is done... Sealed up, removable or opening? Would seem a shame not to make use of the space now the cutting has been done.

removable. Going to have a ally return/lip glassed in and then some Dzus fasteners to keep it there. This was one of the reasons it went to Steve as I didn't trust myself to make one cut !

I'm going to put most of the air system for the gearchange under the cover. It also allows me to change the tank out for a sprint size one easily.

Also getting the bonnet hinge changed/front splitter made and getting the rear of the car wrapped to cover the damage from Goodwood last year. Be prepared for a Red/White/Blue Phoenix !

Don't think I'd trust myself to make it a single straight cut either.
