I will be ordering the new wheels for my striker rebuild in a week or so but wanted to double check the wheel specs.

Striker is mk2 escort based and i'm looking at 13inch wheels. 6 inch wide, offset is 16mm and bore is 63.4 plan is to fit 185/60/13 tyres. will i have any problems? Will they sit ok in the rear arches. Don't want them sat too far in and looking lost.

Also can you recommend a tyre, will only be road use. keep hearing about R888's or will these be over kill for a road car.

Thanks again.

That's the size I think I had on my last Striker and they looked/ fitted fine. New build is a bit different but then I have 7 inch wheels with 185/60 on the front and 205/50 on the back (from memory).

Last Striker had R888 and it was great and the new one has R888 already :D

Thats good to know.

How are the R888 if you get caught out in the wet?

R888R are the replacement for the R888 and who be a better bet in the rain.

I never had a problem with the R888 in the wet. I don't go silly and try and avoid the wet but they where better than the A032R I had before which tended to slid all over the place in the rain.

Has anyone got or used the R888R on Sylva type car yet?

i´ve driven different semi slicks e.g. r888, federal semi slicks (185/60r13 and 205/60r13)...dry they are ok...wet they are rubbish compared to a proper road-tyre

nankang ns2-r looks good: a friend of mine is using them on his noble c23 on the track 120 treadwear (Treadwear: 120 (Track); 180 (Street))...cold dry track --> very good, track a bit wet --> still good. but not tested in real wet conditions.

Hi Craig,

Am doing something similar. I have the original escort mk2 steel rims at the moment 175/70/R13's.

Tried a 195/50/15 but the stuck out from the arches on the rear and the front wings wouldn't cover them.

Let me know what you change too as i want to replace them with alloys but out with the right size and offset etc.

Alex.
