HI Micha,
Not strange at all, and it isn't cortina chassis. It's a Mk3 (Ithink), a budget version of the striker with outboard shocks, chevette front axle and fibreglass tunnel. Jeremy didn't make many as it didn't work or sell. I think I recognise this car from one of my early trips to le Mans but without the plate can't tell for sure.

yeah...could be also vauxhall wishbones...you are right.....

but are you really sure that this came from the factory like this?

i know that Mk3´s have outboard suspension...but i only know them with sylva´s own wishbones..the only remainings from vauxhall had been the uprights.

Yes, defo.
Mk3 was an attempt by JP to build a budget Striker...never took off, personally I think the Mk2 was underated and a budget price anyway!

Hi Micha,

It is indeed a MK 3 Striker with standard Chevette wishbones. Although a rare car and often seen as the poor relation the Mk3 Striker can be made to work very well. The outboard suspension is a neat design especially with proper wishbones on the Chevette uprights. The shocks are at a good angle and the only real downside is the aerodynamics and having 100pcd on the front and 108 pcd on the rear if a Ford live axle is used. I got around this with a pair of Escort alloy hubs which go straight on with a swap to the Chevette inner bearing, voila 108 pcd all around. I currently campaign a cross flow Mk3 in hillclimbs and sprints and it handles very sweetly although a bit more power would be nice... ;)

Cheers, Leon
