Along with many other holders of MSA licences, I competed for some years in the RAFMSA Speed Challenge which ran (as Jeff describes) outside the MSA ambit (no competition lcence requirement, only "trackday" PPE required) and was designed to get newbies into the sport. RAFMSA, which is MSA affiliated, never seemed to suffer, neither (AFAIK) did its competition secretaries (both MSA licence holders), nor did I.
