AB Performance paddle shift

Whilst the Fury R1 was in having the gearbox repaired, I had Andy Bates fit his paddle shift mechanism last year.



Very pleased with the improvement in feel over my 'home made' solution. Certainly worth the money. This is attached to the R1 engine using his push-pull cable shift. This has to be the best way to change gear in a sports car in my view. Maximum driver involvement and very quick gear changes, also possible mid corner if need be. There are even quicker ways to change gear (for race cars) but this is the best compromise in my view for a fun road car.

I wear ear protection every time I go out in the Fury. The little cannister attached to the keys hold the plugs, so I can't forget. The car is loud as I run a titanium race exhaust most of the time, which has minimal packing. Also use an open air filter, so the induction roar at higher revs is loud too.

They still allow you to hear things (across the full frequency range) but reduce the noise levels massively. A lot of the damage is done by wind buffeting too, which is low frequency noise. Had my ears tested earlier in the year and after 7 years of Fury ownership, my hearing is still perfect I make my passengers (mainly my children) wear disposable ear plugs too.

3D printed my first part to bolt onto this paddle shift today. I'm mounting the indicator and light switches directly to the paddle shift, using the existing bolts to hold the brackets in place.

very tidy. What 3D printer are you using?

I used Google Sketchup to design the parts and they were printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2. I'm lucky to have access to several 3D printers at work Plan to buy my own in the near future though. Also looking to use it in my home automation projects.
