David Cockburn - RIP

I've been informed that David Cockburn (Deecee) has passed away, suddenly, last Saturday during an awards dinner.
I meet David while competing in Sprints and, indeed, he beat me in the A8 class last year for the Tunbridge Well Motor Club All Circuits Championship. David had recently completely his J15 and started competing in it. David was always a very pleasant and helpful guy and we had some great banter during the competitions.
Very sad news and my thoughts are with his family and friends in this very sad time.

I have known David for 20 years and my thoughts are with his family at this time. He will be greatly missed around the paddock.

I was contacted by Nigel Baker , a fellow competitor , with this news , while at breakfast with Simon , Matt plus wives , after our own FDMC awards/dinner/dance on Saturday evening . We were all totally shocked , David looking so slim and fit and Nigel said they'd been together most of the day having a great time then laughing at the table , only minutes before. My thoughts are with his wife and family who are all with her now .
I will post again when funeral arrangements are known .

Sad news indeed.
I didn't know him other than his posts here, where he'd be very helpfull with a few queries of mine, and a brief chat at Stoneleigh last year.

I only met David a few times, but he always came across as approachable & friendly.
My condolences to his family.
Not his current J15 steed, but probably how he should be remembered. Regis Sprint Goodwood 2009.

From the TWMC site

David Cockburn
It is with great sadness that I have to impart the news that David Cockburn reached his “Chequered Flag” suddenly on 1st March 2014, aged 67. David had fulfilled his lifetime dream to build and sprint a Kit Car. His enthusiasm and gentlemanly presence will be greatly missed, not only in the Sprint Paddock, but also, at some of our Social Events. He often said it’s a pity he wasn’t closer to Tunbridge Wells in order to be able to attend more Club Events. Our thoughts at this time are with his widow Lynne and the rest of his family.
