New from Germany with a Striker MK3

Postby isleman » Tue Oct 29, 2013 10:08 am

Just want to intruduce myself. I`m a long time reader and have now registered to get in contact with the other new member from Germany Tom.

My name is Bernd and I am from the lower Rhine region in Germany(close to the Netherland border). I have importat a Sylva Striker in the last year. It was on Pistonheads for sale for a long time, a bit overpriced but in a good conditipon and most important old enough for an easy registration here in germany :D
It is one of the rare MK3 Striker with the outboard front suspension. It has a 1,7 zetec Se engine fitted with single throttle bodies and an Omex 600 engine management. At the moment I´m redoing the cabeling and some bodywork so I will post pictures when it is in a better condition.

Best regards

Welcome, Bernd -- herzlich willkommen bei uns.

As Jeff says, please do post photos as you go along.

I must ask though, where do you get your user-name of "Isleman"? (Inselmensch?)

David

isleman... my parents (and i too back then) live on a small island in the Rhine. That was the reason why i choosed this name when i first get in contact with this nasty internet stuff "some" years ago. Believe me in the wintertime with floodwaters this is also a very wet island.

Es wäre, meines Erachtens, besser wenn die Diskussionen hier hauptsächlich in der englischen Sprache stattfinden würden -- primarily because only a few of us are in the happy position to be able to follow the German.

However, please explain "KÜS" (Kraftfahrzeugüberwachungsstelle??) and "HU" (keine Ahnung!) :o

sorry for forcing you to use the translator that was not my intent ;)

KÜS is an organization which is doing vehicle tests similar to your MOT (or what i think your MOT is) They are like the TÜV but with less competence / authorization.
HU is the Hauptuntersuchung = MOT. You have let them do it every two years

No need to feel bad, good to have additional interesting people on here.

(changed 'more interesting' to 'additional interesting', as I realised it didn't read so well :D )
