Back on the road again

Well yesterday I coughed up £120odd to pay for 6 months road tax. After a few months tinkering she is back on the road again :D Just in time for a sunday morning blast to Goodwood this weekend.

Only real issue is that having replaced the engine mount rubbers I seem to have moved the gearbox which is rubbing the side of the transmission tunnel and making a racket :(

Any good tips on finding the spot that is touching? Can't get under it with the car running and even when I can see anything its close in so many places (and always has been) I can't decide which bit to 'persuade' this time

I bet it's those new rubbers --- when I changed one side on mine the engine tilted slightly to the drivers side -- they're thicker. In my case I simply eased the top edge of the gearbox lid with the soft hammer. If you can't find the spot that's touching , pass an old inner throttle cable down the sides with the tunnel cover off to see better.

The engine mounts are now as thick as they should be but I get what you are saying.

Might have to put up with the rattle for a couple of days and then get the transmission tunnel cover off next week to see what is going on down there :)

You could try swapping the mounts over if they are the same. I had an ovalled bolt on the front wishbone that caused the car to lurch on acceleration and then lurch back on lifting off - I swapped the bolts over side to side because it was easy and problem solved!

Thats another good idea. Hopefully I will get an hour to tinker with it later today....can't be that difficult can it
