I'm looking for some help guys.
I've just got hold of a new dash for the Striker because the old one is looking a little tatty.
Firstly I will have space for another dial but should I fit an oil temp or oil pressure gauge?
Secondary I can't find either in the original dial so if I change them all what impact will this have on the fuel sender / gauge readings oh and the speedo etc? Is it a mine field.

Oil pressure is useful.
in my car a think a fuel gauge would have been far more useful than an ammeter that's fitted! I haven't run out yet tho!

Go for the oil pressure gauge. If you want oil temp as well but don't have room for another gauge then wire the oil and water temp senders to a change-over switch and then to a single gauge.

If not I'd go with presure.

What are you going to do with oil temperature information?
Pressure is handy as it gives clues on level and general engine health.

If you go with those dual gauges then try these guys instead. They are always cheaper for racetech stuff.

deecee, I wondered if you changes the gauge then maybe it would not read the sender from the fuel tank. or does it not work like that??

Most likely changing the fuel gauge it would still work, least it may be a little different. Most of the issues could be resolved with a pull up resistor.
If the gauge you have is still available ask the manufacturer the spec of th sender, and then for the new one you're thinking off. Not sure there's an inudstry standard but they won't be far away

Yes I am sure a change of gauge would affect the reading if you kept the same fuel level sender. I don't know what make of gauges you have at the moment but ETB at http://www.etbinstruments.com/ are very helpful. I used an ETB gauge with a VDO sender, for space reasons, and it worked fine. I did ask first though!

I'm using one of these to match a telemetrix gauge to a midget fuel tank/sender. It even sorts out the difference 'polarity' (i.e. one is high resistance at full tank, the other low). Not set up properly yet but it does work.
