And the car is broken (again). Rear passenger side trailing arm mount has pulled out of the axle.....

This is a video from Snetterton where I was taking my 14 year old son round the track. Taking it really easy but still hit 135 on the back straight.

Jeff , I was just thinking that unless you planned on a ' baby Atlas ' , you could weld some sheet ''at least '' 8 inches wide and half way round the circumference of the axle or even right around ---- then weld the mountings on but not just butt welded as standard . Box the area both sides where attached to the new plated axle , also side support them . It used to be almost a standard thing to do on powerful rally cars --- well Escorts

Steve at Fury Sportscars is going to 'band' the axle and redo the mounts. I'm also going to get him to sort the rear drum brakes (which don't seem to do a lot) and also make up a set of leading and trailing arms that are adjustable. That way I can change the angle of the diff nose so it points slightly downwards at rest.

on my first striker I bent the lower leading arms, they were the 20mm round ones. I ended up with box section ones. it turned out that the round ones were only rated up to 200bhp.
just one for the pot.
