The lights and bowls are availablefrom either EuropaSpares or StaffordVehicleComponents (SVC). I think both the co's do them as complete sets or separate bits. 5 3/4" trim rims are only available in black plastic now.

I ordered the bowls/backs from SVC, they come with the chrome rims, but the light units were cheaper than elsewhere, so hopefully about £62 should sort them, and sell the 20 mile old 7" ones to recoupe some more expense :(

Work continued this w/e.
fitted the 'new' Aldon 103FXYS dizzy which has the correct advance for twin 40's and the 234 cam. It's on points, old school! But I ran points on my previous Striker and Westfield without an issue. Refitted the carbs on the new manifold studs and gave them a second thorough check over included float heights and installing new float needles. Got a small leak at one union, not sure if the carb top is cracked or it's the brass union that's cracked. Fitted the new Sytec Motorsport twin cable linkage too, should be so much better than the single cable hash that was fitted previously. Not tried to run it yet but optimistic! Also checked fuel pressure and flow, the adjustable pressure regulator seems to do it's job and I'm getting around 1ltr in 45secs. or 80ltr/hr, which should be sufficient for the thirstiest 1300!
Lights are still giving me trouble. The new 5.75" lights arrived, the problem is the large holes in the bonnet left by the 7" units. Fitting the new lights centrally I wouldn't be able to get a single mounting screw in! I think i'll end up using some ally plate to fill the void and 'glassing over the back of it and then moutning the 5.75" units into that. Bringing the 7" unit to the front of the current mounting wouldn't work well. So unless anyone has any better suggestons to tidy up the ligths and use the 5.75" units then it'll be the ally plate route. Pics attached of work for this w/e,

Phil

good progress there Phil.

With the lights, if you mount them too high, then they can clash with the covers (should you be planning to fit those).

You could use pre-formed GRP sheet instead of aluminium.

Just thoughts

that's why i can't mount the 7" unit's to the front.
I think aluminium sprayed back would work and not look too bad and then mount the 5.75" shells into that. Will give it a go tonight. . . .
argh. . . . this car needs so much more work than I thought!

reading again all the posts i understand now your problems with the lights.

for me it seems that this bonnet was designed for 5.75 headlamps. unfortunately the builder of the car used 7" ones instead, resulting in those clearance problems with the wheels.

i would also go the ally plate route for re-fitting the correct 5.75 lamps

it's mostly done now. doesn't look so good with the adjuster on the front, but i used the 7" chrome rings too and that has eased the mess. I'll get some pics tonight, I'm happier with the result!
I didn't realise there were some bonnet designed for 7" units

I would be surprised if there where bonnets designed for 7" lights as this would have to bigger and further forward than than the 5.75" ones.

Early Phoenix bonnet took 7inch by the look of it.
