In other news, we have found another good block so the engine should be going back together shortly.

Spark plug ceramic shattered....some went down the bore (unbeknownst to me).....nice marks in the side of the bore.
The head/piston can be saved (pistons where custom made) so easier to have a 2nd hand undamaged block than to over-bore and fit in pistons/rods.
