Re: Phoenix Brakes
Are there such things as 'standard' headlights? Certainly most of the cars I've seen (Fury & Phoenix) have the same size lights (not sure on the Wipac bit).

Re: Phoenix Brakes
Fury and Phoenix use 5 3/4" lights. Available from Lucas, Wipac, Hella...
I've never seen them mounted from the behind the bonnet before though; Always the front.

Re: Phoenix Brakes
my ex fury had 5.75 lights, the fury of a mate has 7inch, my phoenix has 7inch, the phoenix of a friend has 7inch,
you can consider that all lights hidden behind headlight covers are 5.75, whereas the none hidden ones are 7.
europaspares sell both for a good price.
good to hear about the positive news for the bias brakes!!!
ok..if you have the early rocker arm setup and cannot add shims, but you need to change castor, the only possibility is to modify the tca-strut.
is it the drivers side you want to change? i ask caue on one of my ex-cars the drivers side strut was shortened. it was a 1992 car.

Headlight Bowls
Hijacking the Pheonix thread a bit...
Apologies if its blindingly obvious.... just dont want to mess it up by drill holes in the wrong place.
I'm converting my Stylus from 7" Porsche type lights to 5.75" recessed / covers.
Simple question... which way is UP for the Wipac plastic bowls, to put the beam adjusters in the right place ?
Jeff's pic above suggests it as per my photo below, with the large tab straight up, but this places the adjusters on one side - at 2 & 4 o'clock.
Google pics suggest the adjusters should be at 12 & 9 o'clock- but still unsure if its RHD & LHD dependent.
Advice please
Thanks
Matt.

Sorted
Pretty obvious once I actually put the headlight into the shell.

Adi
Would like some of these, provided they cover the screw heads.
(I've only got the one old one, as per the pic above).

Re: Phoenix Brakes
They cover the entire mounting.
Think they're about£7.50 each plus vat and p+p from Europa Spares. How does £10 plus postage the pair sound?

Re: Phoenix Brakes
so it looks like I need some 5.75" units for my car, what a waste of money the new 7" H4 wipacs were then!
Where's the best places to get the 5.75" units from please?
what do i need, H4 lenses/units, rear plastic bowls and chrome trims?
What started as simple project, just re-fresh the brakes, change the awful wheels has turned into 'how to build a car properly that's been on the road for 20 years' project
I've only done 20 miles in the damn thing. Got a proper throttle linkage (should alleviate having to put my foot under the throttle to lower the revs), Aldon 103FXYS dizzy (with points but has the right advance), new inlet studs for the carbs (now all unc/unf as opposed to a mixture) and UNF nylocs, new float needles (hopefully cure the fuel leak), fuel line pressure gauge (check delivery pressure). hopefully this little lot will allow me to set the engine up properly. With some new lights I'll be able to turn the wheels without ripping the lights out and use it. . . . . . . . watch this space
oh and the expansion tank, what are others using?

thats an interesting statement...as 80% of the(kit) cars, me and my mates bought in Uk, could be classified in this category!!! (even cars which have been factory built....some even as factory demonstrator cars, shown on kitcar exhibitions and featured in the well known UK kitcar-magazines!!!)
