Sounds like code for "guinea pig" to me Jeff. I've had one experience with Elite (admittedly IL200) and, though they are undoubtedly worthy folk, I'm glad I'm out. Current 60G is very heavy and agricultural-sounding, but so far (wood, wood, my kingdom for some wood) has held together admirably!

I was interested in your comments David. Issue is I can't justify or afford £7K plus on a gearbox so the BGH route is really the only available.

that's quite a spec for the box, do you know what they are going to do it. when I phoned them with my spec they said they could not offer a box for me? but as you have said without spending big bucks what else can you do????

It's actually quite surprising the box hasn't failed before when you think about it Jeff . You had their HD 250bhp max spec box and I have a Caterham Quaife box , but rebuilt to a higher spec by Brian when it was making funny noises 4 years ago ---- also to a 250bhp max ----- but only put 231bhp through it , as opposed to your 350bhp ish :o On top of that , when my engine went from 200bhp on carbs to 231bhp TB's , I broke the halfshafts first time out at Curborough , so from then on the axle had quaife shafts along with the ATB already in there.
You still have the standard axle don't you :?: Just shows what the old English axle will take aye :!: Even though your 350bhp didn't bust the shafts , it'll now be the weak point after a higher spec box from Brian

H'mmm ---- ATLAS :?:

As you know Rob it is torque that kills boxes and diffs/drive shafts and not power itself. Because the Rotrex makes max power at the redline and is very linear it is less of an issue than with something like a turbo install. The engine is producing about 260-270 ft lb which Brian/Chris reckon is just about doable with some tweeks.

I guess once the new intercooler/charge cooler is in and the engine is running its full potential 360-370BHP & 280-290 ft lb) it may well need a T5/ Elite IL-300 (depending how flush I feel) and a mini Atlas.
