funny thing is you'd think i'd have learnt. I went through the same process to a degree with the Striker and Westfield I had 15 years ago! Though they were both better starting points.

have your sortedy the rear brakes?

what i cannot understand is: why somebody fitted disc brakes on a 1300 xflow ?

the drum brakes work well even with 120horsepowers.

can you tell me what master cylinder is fitted?

I have no idea either, 9" RS drums would be fine, even 8" ones.
Pity because I have a nice set of 13" superlights but they won't clear the rear calipers.
No idea on m/c, it's a girling one, I don't think there's a size on it but will check today,

the girling maser cylinder may indicate the original one.

this wont work with rear discs....i can´t give you exact figures, but if it turns out that the rear brakes lock earlier than the fronts than you have a big problem and a dangerous car.

there's no problem with the brakes, I never said there was.
It makes no difference what brand the m/c is, the size is crucial to getting the balance right

here's a few pics, doing the tracking and as it is now

I set the front ride height to 90mm and the rear to around 110mm
Camber at the back was 0.2deg Neg both sides. Which is around about right for a live axle.
Front I set to 1deg10mins toe in
Front camber was 2.7deg Neg OSF and 1.8deg Neg NSF
On my setup it's not possible to adjust the camber. I 'optimised' the bolts in their various holes but couldn't get it any closer than the aformentioned camber. I'd like is around 1.5neg really.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a 'zero' pressure rad cap? I have two 15lbs caps on both the XR2 thermostat housing and on the rad. There's no expansion tank at all, so when it gets hot it blows the coolant out. So i was thinking of using an expansion tank and having the pressure cap on there, this is the way my old westfield used to run and without any issues.

Phil,

Looking very nice there. Those wheels are so much nicer than the last set.

To my eyes the bodywork looks really low over the rear wheels, but perhaps I haven't seen many live axle cars.

Do you mean 0 pressure? Surely infinite pressure is what you need for those two. Or actually they need to be higher than the one on the expansion tank.

Yes sorry, it's an odd picture, the drive rises and only the NSR wheel is on the rise. Does look a little odd with the 14" rear and 13" fronts. 13" fronts fitted for now to alleviate the wheels ripping my new lights out on lock. must get some pics of that part.
yes, inifite pressure I suppose. just a plain sealing cap basically. I'm wondering if I should rip the gubbins out of the ones I have and just fit a rubber gasket type seal tto them.
Still need to fill the badge recess and get rid of the horrible vents in the bonnet!

I used those wheels for several years with my live-axle Phoenix without any issue (I know one of my light bowls has a hole in it but this was done before I bought the car). This suggests your light bowl is different somehow. I would certainly investigate the bowl rather than running 13" & 14" wheels.

This is what mine looked like with the same wheels (for reference) under load

I'll try and get some pictures tonight of it, maybe you can make some comparisons to yours then.
