Car is back, Interestingly it now makes 10% more power as the valve clearances where all wrong previously....so we are now at 300 HP at the wheels !

Funny how things work out.

Blacktop uses shims, the silvertop was hydraulic and therefore self-adjusting

So the car was flying at North Weald today. Much more power and the the revs where building up far quicker than before....right until the 4th run when the gearbox gave up with 3rd gear :(

So sorry re - the gearbox Jeff , although you did finish on an 80sec's run --- I ended up on an 81.84sec's best and 10th overall after bouncing all over the place through the crossover and chicane , my feet thrown off the pedals and glasses vibrating BUT somehow missed all the cones I was seeing double :o Alternator bracket that's been there for 6 years snapped , I'd forgotten just how rough N Weald is having been there last in 2004.

I think your troubles might be down to CARma. A car does bad things in one life and bad things happen to it in it's next inCARnation.

Like this rather grainy footage I found the other day...

... yes, thats Jeffs car diving up the inside on a sighting lap under yellow flags.
