R&R where very good.

Axle and diff are in, just need to add oil and then bleed the rear brakes. Should all be together for North Weald on Sunday....first Sprint of the season :)

In Hi-Def this year :) Not sure the Race Technology software supports Hi-Def yet though so it maybe without the data overlay.

Car was OK.....ish.

Nursing some issues through the day, oil being blown out of the dipstick being the most obvious. It appears the engine has been over-filled with oil and, on boost, it is forcing it out of the dipstick rather than into the catch tank. I need to drain the overfill and sort out a new catch tank.

The other issue appears to be the lift pump can't keep up with the demands of the 690cc injectors and the Bosch 044R pump so that the Bosch runs noisy and it cut out straight after one run. I need to look at the Facet pump and any filters to make sure it is moving enough fuel upto the swirl pot. Must say I am tempted to get a new tank and fit the high pressure pump in the tank which would do away with a lot of needless pots/hose/pumps etc.

The remaining two issues where less serious. Number one was I was taking it easy as the Phoenix never likes the bumps at NW with the live axle and number two is the tyres....I need a set of Avon ZZRs in A24 compound. Anyway ...9th overall with a 88.27sec but 3rd in class having been beaten by Steven Laing in his R500 on ZZRs (85.11 and 1st in class) and Paul Bowden (85.57). Paul did a 83.94 in practise and then had a series of wrong routes.

So pleased and annoyed/depreased in equal measure. Video below but with no datalogging this time.

Just a few issues Jeff don't beat your self up about them. You have had a lot done all in one go, it will come good. Will be interested to see which route you go with the fuel tank and pump ;) .

Are the ZZRs that good? I have the cr500 on my car and just out of interest the tread compound on these is 20. This is very low, do you know how soft the ZZRs are? I will have a look into this I think :)

interesting route for the course I have not seen that one before.

Avon ZZR A24s are sprint compound tyres and are worth 3-4secs per run.

Jeff , what size fuel line from tank to swirl pot :?: I run 10mm copper central heating pipe which means there's no resistance plus a greater volume in line . I had a tank made with a 3.5 inch diam x 50mm deep sump welded underneath and just 2.5 inch entry to the tank -- all foam filled. The high pressure pump then sits at the level of the sump's 5/8ths exit . That's it , no swirl pot . I was told by 'many' that this wouldn't work BUT it does . A tip given to me from Dunnell when I was about to fit a swirl pot ;)

Oil wise ----- haven't you got a RACELINE sump :?: If so then you'll have been told it holds 5lts ---- it doesn't , 4.25lts plus a short filter is max and you should keep the FORD windage tray under the crank then just cut off the threaded bolt ends that foul the Raceline baffle. Unless of course the BLACKTOP has different R sump dimensions :?:

I know how much oil it holds but I didn't fill it. Anyway....just need to sort out the overfill and then a better oil catch tank. The fuel delivery needs to be looked at again.

Jeff

I had a similar issue with my Silvertop Stylus 3yrs back - basically steel tank rotting on the inside intemittently blocked the filter & facet redtop pump meaning swirl pot kept running dry. Similar supply issues to yourself, for completely different reason.
I dumped the whole of the old setup & had a new tank made in ali, copying Rob's sump idea. pics attached.
This setup is now fueling my 270hp turbo 16V Lancia lump @3bar without issue (& its isnt even the Bosch 044 pump)
