My nephew had water injection plus some freezing device on the intercooler for his Integrale which proved to be awesome
But I know less than now't about such things

Can't wait to see this thing go, Jeff. Are you going to be at Lydden on 14th April?

For petrol cars:
Volvo and Saab both put dump before intercooler (its built into the turbo).
Nissan (and |I assume VW/Audi given your vehicular experiences) have dump after intercooler.
The other manufacturers generally just copy (or do a bad job).
My feeling is that with a turbo it doesn't make that much difference. The reason being that you never really dump that much intake air, because once the throttle is closed you have no exhaust gases to drive the turbo so its spinning rate decreases and it stops pumping (and hence dumping) fairly soon.
My thought/concern is that when you are running a supercharger with the throttle after the supercharger then you may find yourself dumping quite a lot of gas as even when the throttle is closed you may have high rpm and so be pumping a lot of air.
I'm not sure what the benefit of having the dump valve after the intercooler is.
I am enjoying your journey though.

OK....on the Audi there is two different devices which will bleed off boost. One is attached to the turbo and will bleed off excessive boost under ECU control (wastegate) with a spring, rated at a certain pressure, as a 'safety valve'. There is also a pair of 710N recirculation valves (twin turbos, twin intercoolers) on the inlet plenum which will recirc the pressure back into the inlet. I presume this is the common setup on all OEM turbo installs.

Re: Supercharged Phoenix is a go....
Great conversation, but to add another spin to this
(excuse the pun) do you not want to keep all the pressure you can going into the cooler from either device then lose excess boost in the plenum side of the throttle bodies? In doing this always keeping a cold charge ready to go in.
Please remember I don't know anything just a thought!
