I think mostly people install them the other way to give a clean handbrake cable run.

The problem with them the common way is that the callipers are upside down, and so you have to remove them to bleed them. This is a real pain.

If the handbrake will release with them the way up that you have them, then I'd leave it be. If you do decide to go with the common inverted calipers at the front, then it is a modification that has no knock-on consequences and you could do this at any stage without having to go back and undo loads of stuff.

If you look at the way they have been installed - we have the worst of both worlds - the bleed nipples are still at the bottom of the caliper but the handbrake run is dreadful as well and I do not think the IVA man will approve.

+ taking things apart is all we are doing at the moment - tank out and rear shockers off to get the wirng to the rear lights sorted. - Its one step forward two steps back every time thus far - bit as its all new is not much of a chore just not very progressive.

I see what you mean, swap them.

There are always loads of backward steps to make progress. Don't let it get you down.

That car is going to be lovely.

I ran the ecu controlled alternator for a while, I heard that it defaults to 'emergency mode' when not attached to a brain which means essentially that it just chucks out 1/2 capacity at all times. It did work OK (it never used to start charging till you revved the engine.. odd) but have now replaced it with the a more old fashioned one that just works :P)

Just a bit of wiring around the back of the car and the complete rear suspension removed to swap the uprights etc. over - As the sun has been out a couple of weekends it has been decided to do some miles on the Ducati's :D like you do - instead of getting stuck into the car - The Bank Hols are however booked for a serious amount of getting stuck in time.

And pictures of progress will follow.

hi mate, enjoyed the pics of your car. best of luck with the build. looking at the pic of your steering column. has the lower column support been welded to top of the footwell, just mine came as a separate plate and haven't yet come up with a plan i'm happy with fixing it to the car.

Mine came as a seperate plate which I welded to the top of the pedal box. I've seen this done on others and also some bolted on.

thanks Adi, the thing is when bolted to the bulkhead in order to overlap sufficiently to be fixed its lower than i would like as it seems to strain the column. wondering if i can bend the plate and bolt it to the top of the footwell.

Or bolt a plate to the front face or angle piece to the top and then bolt the support to that? Not elegant but it'd work.
