As the subject above
I have had the Striker a few years now & I am hoping to finely do some track days
After sorting a lot of problems out with it.
The Striker currently sits on alloys with Yokohama A539 tyres
The question is are these ok for track days ( to get the best out of the Striker)
Or do I need to spend out on some super sticky tyres like Proxes
I might well be driving to and from the circuit in the Striker
Thanks in advance

Re: Tyres for track days
A539 will overheat very quickly on a dry track. I have used them on a very wet Brands Hatch and I have to be honest they were horrible. I have R888r at the moment and they are great in the dry and OK in the wet but then nothing other than a full wet race tyre will work well on a '7' in the wet on track.
My current set of R888r are from ebay, part worn with an age date of 10 months old. Very cheap, £200 for all four. I believe they had been used on a Caterham for one race /test day and then they splash the cash on a new set for the next session!
I have used semi-slick track focused tyres on all my Strikers since the end of the 90's for many thousands on road miles. 'Normal' car tyres are too hard for a light car like the Striker and never really give much grip.

Excellent bit of feedback there.
Peter
What would you say was the track life span of the R888r
would be driving at Castle Combe
I wont be racing just track day fun maybe twice a year
