Will I need lock stops?

Postby CraigJ » Sun Oct 04, 2015 7:58 pm

hi, new here.

I'm in the process of rebuilding a Striker. Its currently stripped and I'm going through it bit by bit. I have noticed that the wheels have been touching the Ali panels on both sides. The last owner had 17 inch wheels on the car with 205 wide tyres. I will be going down to 13 inch wheels with 185/60/13 tyres. Will the wheels still rub or will it clear with the smaller wheels?

Its a standard mk2 rack as far as I'm aware.

Thanks.

I'd very much doubt you'd need them as I'd guess the new ones will be a fair bit smaller. What profile are the 17"s. There's plenty of wheel/tyre size comparison sites on the net that would give the difference.

Don't think so, sure I have that tyre size on Striker and std escort rack, the mudgaurds do faul the sidepanel but it's not an issue and the tyres don't come anywhere near.

Thanks for that.

Will just have to wait until I have it back together to find out for sure.

New ones will be 44mm smaller in diameter than the old ones plus of course, also narrower. The old ones would have to have been rubbing hard for the new ones to be an issue.
