just after opinions of what you would do? what would you set the shift light too? I do have a number but want to see what you guys say.

Engine spec says

Peak BHP @ 9500
Redline @ 12000
Max Torque @ 8000
Power (crank) 160bhp @10800

Dont think I have to worry too much about the shift light at the moment, ran the car for the first time to full temperature on saturday morning!!! Great my waterless water works and all of my gauges. water 88 oil temp 67 oil pressure at tickover 1 :o

yes that is correct 1 psi  . took the sump off as was told it could be a jammed oil pressure releif valve a   and no all ok. I did find loads of old shell bearing bits in the bottom though.

my only saving grace is that the car came with a newly rebuilt engine(or so i am told) so all in bits again and will need to swap all the bits over. just what i need to be doing this late before kick off

Yeah I did, it was one of their customers who had passed away. it was a close friend of his so he sold it for the guys wife. he had the car there for weeks as it had an oil leak that he fixed, on the phone this weekend he did tell me that he ran it up to temp as well

what can you do!! just hope the other engine is what they say???

Are you sure the engine is knackered or is it just the oil pump?

took the sump off to check the pressure relief valve, this was OK but found loads of bits of metal in the sump also for some reason certain areas of oil had water contamination. engine already out and sumps changed over. if all goes well might have it back in by next weekend.
