Great day at Debden today with three Sylvas out to play. Nigel in his Striker Clubman, A red Leader & my Phoenix. We (Nigel & I) had a large entry in the over 1700 kit car class and we had some excitement on the new course layout. Nigel did brilliantly to be with .2 of a sec on the 2nd place man with a 73.7sec (I think) lap with 2nd, 3rd & 4th within this 0.2 sec margin. Nigel has fitted new Avon ZZR sprint compound tyres and this has given him the confidence to move up the order.
I was just able to pull out a lead of the 2/3/4th place argument with a 71.64sec fastest time which was good enough for 8th overall. Great new layout and very well organised by Borough 19
I will try and upload a video tomorrow.

Well done, Jeff.
I know you're looking at getting a trailer only so you can try the ZZR experience. I must admit, they were fabulous around Pilgrims and Chessons (why don't circuit owners know about apostrophes?) on Saturday

I did try Nigel's ZZRs on Sunday (with ET23 Pro-Race 1.2s ) and they are much larger on the sidewall than the same size R888 even if the tread area is the same. I may try and get 205 width R888 SGs instead.

2nd fastest run (72.07) as the video didn't work on the fastest (71.64). No data overlay as I appear to have miss-laid the card. For all you guys who have been to Debden before this is the new track used by Borough 19 and was very good.

Hi,
We did a test at Curborough at the start of the season with R888, Yoko’s and Avon ZZRs. We came to the conclusion, not much between the R888 and the Yoko’s, but the Avon’s were way ahead and even with a shared drive they are lasting far better than expected.
The Avon's also gave good grip in the wet at Anglesey, until you got standing water, then things got interesting
Regards,
David.

I can't get even the 185 13" ZZRs on the car. The Avon 185 is actually 202mm in width.

That's a shame. I am sure you would see a significant improvement in your times. I really don't know how Avon had the nerve to get these tyres e marked!
