All the usual suspects out and about today at Debden.

2nd time I've been there and got 3rd in class with a 68.37. This is the video of the run with data overlay for the first time :)

Jeff,

I like the overlay.

Is the "B" arc shaped bar representative of braking force? if so then how does it get that information?

The G sensors have forward and rear (acceleration and braking) as well as the lateral G shown on the bar below. I could change it to have acceleration as throttle position and put a pressure sensor in the brake line and the log that.

Good time Jeff.

Two of the usual suspects got themselves protested out of the "Modified Specialist Production up to 1400cc" class (which we were winning), and into "Sports Libre" (which I think we won, but we didn't hang around for the results) -- because of lack of a reverse gear.

I'm pretty sure that both the protest and the decision were incorrect, but we didn't have the proof with us. Henceforth we shall carry a copy of http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/SpeedClarificationsJan2011.pdf with me. Probably worth others doing similarly if in same boat.

Amazing what some people will do to get a 50p pot and a few championship points which they are unable to earn on track  -- Feel really sorry for anyone in Sports Libre who lost out on a legitimately earned pot or championship points.

Youtubage of wussy and error-ridden best run at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ln1H-eP6Js. Excuse list is long, but can start with unfamiliarity with BEC driving (first event -- my, don't the gearchanges come up quickly!) and springs which were hard on the car when it was a CEC and weighed in at about 75kg heavier  Will improve ;)

Turns out I got 2nd in class....not sure how but given the confusion at the end regarding results I'm not surprised.

David,

I was talking to Chris and I think you need to look at a paddle shifter for the Striker, the current gearlever looks very difficult to use. Maybe talk to Andy Bates regarding one of his system (http://www.abperformance.co.uk/logistics.htm)

Jeff

Yes, the gearstick is definitely hampering us (although that may be a "lack of familiarity" problem). I didn't know that Andy did paddle systems -- I;ll give him a call.

Thanks

David

David, Don't you love rule clarrifications -
" S10.1.12. With the exception of Racing Cars, the Driver must sit in the same position as in the original car unless period-defined."
Would that be the "Lotus 7" position, I wonder? ;)

By the way David, what happened to the Vauxhall engine, I must have missed that ?

Regards
Paul.

Hi Paul

Yes, better "Lotus 7" than "Missionary 7" :)

That nice little Vx is now in a Westy, mainly to do the WSCC Speed Series -- but should be out with B19 at Honington on Sunday.
