Pembrey: better JPSC representation than usual: Kevin and Elizabeth Padley in their SSC Stylus, and Jim & David Spencer, Chris and me in our Strikers. However, there are eighteen people driving Westfields! Oh, and a Locost.
Anybody around; do come and say hello :)

Fabulous circuit (as ever), fabulous weather (not necessarily as ever ;) ); great time had by almost all competitors; JPSCs right on the pace :)

Hi Rob

DogCam system. Sony HD bullet cam and HQL2 solid state video recorder (using a 16Mb SD card), coupled with in-car charging and LANC start stop. Oh, and microphone is next to the tunnel in the passenger footwell -- has the advantage of being out of the wind whilst still getting the engine noise, and the disadvantage that you can hear every imperfect gear change (virtually all of them :o ).

Produces MPEG 2 or 4 output (not ideal for editing but quality fine on DVD). Total kit cost about £700 over a year ago, but is now obsolete -- I think DogCam now do systems at least as good for about half the price.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Abingdon Car-Nival on Saturday (http://www.abingdoncarnival.com/) -- one of the most popular sprints of the year!!

JPSC entry = 3 (of about 140!). Watch out for Jonathan Thomas (Leader, No. 61), Rob Farley (Stylus, No. 144) and me (Striker, No. 70).

The weather looks a lot better for tomorrow than today --- a little cloud in the morning but sunny most of the day :P Have you seen your opposition David :?: My friend Simon Besant with his TVR 5lt Westy is in roadgoing  My class has a JUNO 250bhp , Darrion XE 300BHP + and some other pretty quick guys :o We'll have fun trying though aye :P

Yes Rob, tough bunch in class 5.

Tim Richardson (given his Caterham Superlight) ought to be amongst the faster boys (though his Goodwood form - 101.21s - might belie that). Of those for whom I have a form book, my money would be on Stuart Wood in his Westy for the win. The Woods are another father/son team; my "young gun" is not available for Abingdon so I'll use Philip as my benchmark ;)

Look forward to seeing you there.

Stuart won, as expected.

Posted this to an inappropriate part of the forum -- so an corrective X-post ;)

Although I would love to have a JPSC Speed Championship in which to compete, this doesn't look like getting off the ground for 2011.
I shall therefore once again go sprinting with the Westies.

For info, their provisional programme for next year is:

Westfield SCC Speed Series Calendar 2011 (Provisional)

Saturday 26-Mar-11 Castle Combe Sprint
Saturday 16-Apr-11 Gurston Down Hillclimb
Sunday 17-Apr-11 Silverstone (Stowe )
Saturday 30-Apr-11 Goodwood Sprint
Saturday 30-Apr-11 Aintree Sprint
Saturday 14-May-11 Harewood Hillclimb
Saturday 14-May-11 MIRA Sprint
Saturday 21-May-11 Wiscombe
Sunday 22-May-11 Wiscombe
Sunday 29-May-11 Snetterton
Monday 30-May-11 Snetterton
Saturday 04-Jun-11 Pembrey Sprint
Sunday 05-Jun-11 Pembrey Sprint
Sunday 19-Jun-11 Curborough Sprint
Saturday 02-Jul-11 Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb
Sunday 03-Jul-11 Three Sisters Sprint
Saturday 16-Jul-11 Llandow Sprint
Sunday 07-Aug-11 Hethel Sprint
Saturday 13-Aug-11 MIRA Sprint
Saturday 13-Aug-11 Lydden Hill
Sunday 14-Aug-11 Lydden Hill
Saturday 03-Sep-11 Ty Croes Sprint (National)
Sunday 04-Sep-11 Ty Croes Sprint (National)
Saturday 10-Sep-11 Loton Park Hillclimb
Sunday 11-Sep-11 Loton Park Hillclimb
Saturday 17-Sep-11 Thoresby Park Sprint
Sunday 18-Sep-11 Thoresby Park Sprint
Saturday 08-Oct-11 Ty Croes Sprint (International)
Sunday 09-Oct-11 Ty Croes Sprint (National 1 lap)

Despite the name of the series, non-Westies are welcome. Though you don't compete for championship honours, the competition on the day is very intense. And the range of venues is second to none (IMHO).

You do have to cough up the £22.50 to join the WSCC though....
