That's it now. Lots of work to do over the winter, have to make the car wider to take 8J and 10J wheels.

Does that mean you've binned the idea of going for an IRS cyana? and move all the running gear over?

less the price of the race developed chassis, aero bodywork and wheel set of the current set up if you sell it.
do you have a spare engine and the old gearbox to drop in it?
its got a number plate and an mot so must be worth something.

Plus a full cage on the Cyana will stiffen up the chassis a treat and make you go faster (as you'l feel safer).

I'd love to run a Cyana with the current engine/gearbox but I think if I was going to put another 10-15K into sprinting it would be a Zeus/Juno or Norma (maybe a PR6 Radical). The Cyana chassis maybe worth 1, 2 or even 3 secs but it will still not have real Aero and be a long way off the Single Seater/Sportscars.

If I could sell the Phoenix as it stood for £20K or thereabouts I'd probable buy a PR6 Radical.

I see what you're saying there comes a limit to what can be done to a JP car and being live axle that limit comes a little sooner.

Do you ever think big power was not the way to have gone and you'd have been better off biting the bullet and going for a radical type thing sooner?

I had that feeling when i was younger, theres only so much you can do to a mk4 escort. After that any real money would be better spent on a better car.

If I had all the money I've spent on it over the last 10 years in a pile and someone asked if I'd do what I've done again, the answer would be no. But I never had that vast amount of money at one time, it has always been 1K here or 3K there and not the 40 or 50K I've actually spent.

I don't have 10K to spend therefore I'm more likely to buy some new rims (2K) and get the car widened (2K). If I stopped doing anything with the car for 4-5 years I'd have enough money to buy something really good but I'm having too much fun with it at the moment. If someone made me a serious offer for the car I would happily move on to a full on prototype style race car.

Hello Jeff,
- the most exiting race cars are build on a far from perfect technical basic .
- lap times and fun is not directly proportional.
-there are thousands of perfectly quick prototype midengined cars like radicals.
-your car is an absolutely outstanding one of a kind. One of the quickest jp cars ever.
-you and your phoenix have a history a new car will never achive.
