Unfortunately, as I mentioned at the top of this thread, both Jeff and I were in very small classes at Snetterton -- and we both won them by well over ten seconds due to car disparities. That sort of margin reduces the fun-quotient of in-class competition to nil, so we need to look elsewhere for a competitive edge -- but you always find someone.
Luckily for me, a gentleman (epithet not applied lightly) named Stephen Laing runs a Caterham R500 in the next class up, and, at Snetterton, we are very evenly matched. I had managed to beat him by a few tenths on Saturday, but on Sunday it was much tighter. I had to leave after two timed runs, at which stage I had him beaten with a time of 98.52s to his paltry 98.53. However, in his third run he improved to a spectacular 98.50s, leaving me trailing in his dust!
That is worthwhile competition.
