What will you do?

I'm fitting a Caged cage which adds about 15kg to my car making it 555kg with me in it

I am however waiting on the outcome of the tyre debacle before deciding what to do overall. Im still wishfully hoping that 1Cs will be allowed but I don't hold my breath :|

ModSpecProd will require FHR for 2016 as well

If it was the new helmet for hans plus the hans/FHR , I'd probably still compete but the cage is the ' killer ' for me .

You would need a roll hoop not a cage Rob.

The whole List 1B/1C thing is lost I'm afraid. You will either have to go into B10/11 (Modified Specialist Production cars) with your 1C tyres or change to 1B tyres. If you go to B10/11 you'll need FHR.

Even our local FDMC scrute couldn't give me a definite yes or no Jeff. I already have a roll hoop that's about 4 inches above my helmet but the backstays are fitted too low down the hoop tubes . The body on a Stylus is in the way so large holes would be needed ------ I wouldn't make any changes unless totally certain it will pass. If fitting mean't cutting the body to do it then there'd be fibreglass repairs and respray £££££££££££
I've had no reply from Mr Duncan

The Phoenix has a similar problem related to the forward-facing stays for the roll bar, in that they are not strong enough due to the acute angle between them and the roll bar. Found this out when an engineer friend of mine did a structural analysis of the ROP. I made a lateral brace from chrom-moly tube which bolts in place from the top/centre of the roll hoop and runs forward into the base of the passenger footwell & bolts to the bottom of the bulkhead panel. Simply bolts in in place when required for sprints etc
Downunder, I have an AASA licience instead of CAMS. With them, the onus is on the competitor to provide suitable roll-over protection for grass-roots motorsport such as sprinting :)
Don't know if you guys are able to do something similar as a solution for lateral bracing?

Petty struts (bar from top of hoop into passenger footwell) have been the cause of a least one fatal accident in Sprinting. A lady in a Caterham hit the end of the pit wall at Goodwood side on, this caused her head/helmet to impact the petty strut. This impact cause brain injuries resulting in her death. There where other factors involved in the accident which contributed (loose belts and a seat insert) but, fundamentally her death was caused by impact with the petty strut.

I certainly wouldn't run a petty strut and they are not allowed under the ROPS requirements for the MSA.

As another who was present (waiting to go out) on that awful day at Goodwood, I second Jeff's view.
