Going up should be a doddle clutchless -- just the tiniest lift. Until you fit electronic assistance, a dab of clutch on down-changes is definitely no sin. It also eliminates the tendency for rear wheels to loose traction (lock) with over-enthusiastic clutchless down-changes (new radiator and nose cone necessitated by changing down one too many as I turned left and braked into the Wiggler -- rear wheels locked, allowing the rear of the car to break to the right just as I needed to begin turning right ).

It is convincing the left foot it is OK not to press the clutch going up in 70 secs...brain says it is OK not to, foot thinks otherwise!
