Hi Adi,
S/H Speedline 15inch wheels think they are 61/2 J ET 15 fit straight on with no spacers
Tyres are S/H Toyo 15” 195 width x 50 profile they just fit within the rear arches and
Front wings without sticking out.
The car came with a set of 14 inch OZ alloys with Goodrich BF road tyres the difference the
888’s made was amazing ( on the speedlines) 15” really sticks in the corners. I looked to get
Better tyres for them but as has been mentioned the choice was virtually non existent.
I have tried my mates dynamic pro race 1.2’s 7” with A048’s on for size but they stick out a wee bit and They scraped on the wing stays on the inside think ET was v similar to our speedlines
Damn sure extra tuition would help ( especially for me ) had a bit of instruction from another mate
Who runs a turbod MX5 ( ex 3x grass track champ ) who showed me the lines at Oulton/Cadwell/Blyton but know I could do with more instruction ( my best time at Cadwell was 1.56 6-8 secs ……Well 8 secs a bloody age Slower than Will …..not a fact I really like to brag about! Mind you Close inspection of the Go pro footage / a few circuits with him has given me a great insight into Where I can improve

Put us down for any group Striker track day for sure …. A great way to ignite more interest re the JSPC/Sylva Forum debates I’m sure there will be loads of guys like Will & I who would jump at the chance To meet up with other strikers/ furys etc , compare cars, and learn stuff from you guys who have been at it for years .

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul,

Yes I had the supercharged striker and before that I had a standard 20v silver top one. The standard one was great for track days and although not the fastest or most powerful car it would beat or keep up with most things, but you did have to drive the pants off it. The standard engine for me was indestructible and I just revved the nuts off it and it never let me down. I think for track days this is more than enough to hone your skills and then look for more power.

I ran 15 inch on both cars cars and the standard one on 888 I loved them. The supercharged car I ran Avon CR500, both cars with 195/50/15 profile. I was going to change to 13s but this was purely to put slicks on the car.

If you want to go faster with what you have get rid of all the bits you do not need (do you drive it on the road?) and make sure the geometry is set up correctly.

Simon

I saw that one but it's a bit of a trek there for me and isn't the greatest of circuits. There's a PPC/Locostbuilders day at Blyton on September18th that could be good. Only £100 per car and no passenger charge. There's camping available as well so could make a nice club gathering with a BBQ and a few beers the night before.

Wherever we go it needs to be twisty and heavy brakes to give the rest of us a chance, Jeff.

Max Speed Calc

Not done the calcs yet but details are Toyota
4age Silvertop 20valve max revs 7800
Gearbox c/ratio 2.8 sporting close 2.8 long 1st 2.8 2nd 1.81, 3rd 1.26, 4th 1.0, 5th 0.85
Diff LSD ZF 4.44
Wheels 15inch with 195/50
Areo screen

Que! doing something very wrong got 728mph in 5th using the gear calc
Must have had one pint tooo many
Will try again…….

Ah a bit more like it
It says 134 at 7500 or 139 at 7800 I presume the striker must have the areodynamics of a brick
As I would be surprised if ours exceeds 125 ( perhaps if we take off the cibees
Not sure what the RPM at peak power is, but I have a power curve somewhere will dig it out

Great Now I can work out what differnce the smaller wheels/ tyres will make! Will do it tomorrow

210 bhp in our Striker gets us 127 over the line at Aintree (on the data-logger and on the speed trap at the circuit) -- so, your assumption about aerodynamic efficiency is pretty much spot on :o
Se7en Pervert -- by definition; I don't drive a Caterham
