Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
Aintree yesterday -- mostly in the sunshine, though competitors did consider trying to build an ark just before lunch.
Part of the Westfield sprint championship (Speed Series), so I took the appropriate car.
Didn't see any JPSCs

Will get back as soon as the results are posted -- I have to admit that, faced with an almost six hour drive back to Suffolk, I left before the awards ceremony (and availability of final results sheets).
Have to admit, though -- Liverpool Motor Club put on a fine event. Despite the number of competitors being well over one hundred, two long stops to pick over-enthusiastic competitors out of Grand National fences, and a half-hour "weather" pause just before lunch during which several of us considered converting our trailers into arks, everybody had two practice and four timed runs

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
That does sound like a good day (apart from the drive home)
.
I have a question for all sprinting gurus.
I am in C13 sport Libra, the reason for this is that I do not want to tax/mot or insure my car for the road anymore. I misread the first set of regs I got as it says
Because my car is supercharged it works out to be over 2000cc but this is only theoretical, so I did not have to tax or mot it as it is only 1600cc.
I have just received the regs for Debden this weekend and it now says
they seem to have added the bit in blue. does this mean I will need a national A licence after all? so confusing??

to compete in a single seater or sport libra car, manufactured after 31/12/1960 of more than 2000cc, the driver must hold a speed national A(open) or race national A licence unless the car is currently licensed for use on the public highway

Competitors in Classes A1-8, and competitors in C13 without a Nat. A Open or Race Nat A licence driving a car of over 2000cc(or 1428cc with forced induction) will need to produce valid insurance certificates and MOT certificates [where necessary].

Basically yes.....you need a Nat A to run that car in that class.

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
its very frustrating as I stopped getting my upgrade card signed as I did not think I would need too? could of had 4 more signatures on it by now
looks like I will have to tax it for next year as I only have 3 events left this year that I am doing, need to get on with some changes.
last rant it only seems to be borough 19 regs that have changed to this so will have to keep an eye on the rest.

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
In a nutshell, the "forced induction equivalence" factor of 1.4 always applies. Ergo, any rule applicable to 2 litre N/A will apply equally to and super/turbo car of 2000 / 1.4 = 1428cc.

Best of 48.35s -- which is over a second faster than I've ever achieved in a timed run at Aintree before, and turned in 16th FTD of 120+ competitors. Still well beaten by the brutally powerful Puma-engined Westie of John Loudon (in truth, he's no slouch at driving it either

Other sub-1700cc kits came in with times of 52.08s (Martin Walker), 54.26s (Andy Taylor), 56.34s (David Kirkham), 60.43 (Bill Stevenson) and 70.97s (Carol Stevenson).
Unusually, a kit-car beat the single seaters to FTD -- Kurt Ramsden in his 5.0 Rover V8 Westie (43.88s).
On the basis of Saturday's experience, I'm fairly sure there's a 47s run in my car (and driver) given a bit more practice -- but getting into the 46s bracket might be a real challenge.
P.S. Full results available at http://www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/files ... e-2012.pdf
P.P.S. I got thrown out of Class 2A and into Class 3F for not running a windscreen -- northerners are like that
