You're still travelling all around the country a fair distance David :P It's 2005 since I did a full championship season , i couldn't hack the 4/5-00 am starts nor the regularity now :( I bet the westy boys were hoping they'd seen the last of you in their championship then you go and put new clothes on the Striker
Brilliant , I like it 8-) --- good luck at Honnington :D

At Honington it drizzled a bit -- but never enough to wet the track. JPSC interest was in the Road-Going over 1700cc class, where we were represented by JeffW and NPF101 (Nigel Fleming). Their usual bête noire (the excellent Paul Bowden) blitzed them both (again), ending up with 3rd FTD despite the presence of several single seaters 8-) -- but Jeff came away with a pot for a very creditable 2nd place and Nigel put in most respectable times.

Well -- they failed (but only just). Considering that they had never been to MIRA before, being beaten (IIRC) by only two of the myriad of Westies (led by the irrepressible Mr. Palmer) was a very creditable achievement. I'll comment more when the final results are published.

Roger Slater also represented the Striker fraternity in "ModSpecProd", and (I think) won his class.

It turns out to have been (officially) as tight as I remembered. The results for Road Going Kit Cars up to 1700cc were:

John Palmer 50.96s
David Hussey 51.05
Jim Spencer 51.46
John Loudon 51.64
David Spencer 52.10
Tom Caldecourt 52.34
Richard Abraham 54.04
Stu Hill 54.80
Martin Hepworth 56.57
Steve Clark 57.20
George Newrick 58.62
Colin Way 58.75
John Clarke 61.15
Graham Cashmore 61.51

Jim and David Spencer in a Striker, most of rest in Westfields. Very Exciting -- a tenth of a second is about ten feet on the track!!

Roger did indeed win his class (but was both first and last!)

So ....B19 Sprint at RAF Honington today. 2nd in class (behind Mr Bowden!) with a 92.89sec run. Very fast circuit

Video of fastest run (camera got knocked slightly)

Nice to see David & Nigel out and about.

David,

Jim and I really enjoyed the event at MIRA. Jim put in a cracking run to get into the 51's, just disappointed I couldn't achieve the same!

Our next event will be at Pembrey on the 4th & 5th June. In the meantime we will carry on with building the single seater up and I will be getting ready to enjoy a taxi run in a Lancaster.

Regards,

David.

Good to meet some people at MIRA last Saturday and many thanks for the advice and encouragement. I thought "kettling" was something only the Metropolitan Police did, but MIRA officials kept us cooped up in a small car park for an hour before they let us in - at least it was sunny. Never having driven this MIRA course before my first run was slow, very slow, but the timing didn't work so at least my time wasn't recorded. Over the next three runs, with helpful advice, the times came down by 10 seconds but not to the levels of other people here. Some very good performances from JPSC.
Next outing is Curborough on Sunday in Lifeline Championship.

hope to see some of you later in the season.
Roger

Roger: Great to meet you -- and glad you enjoyed MIRA, which is one of my favourite tracks. Look forward to seeing you again later in the season.

David: Enthralling contest at MIRA. Pity we won't be able to continue battle directly at Pembrey, as we should be in the Striker.

All best, David

Did Curborough today and finally got down to a 36 s dead for a single lap - fastest I've ever done it. No JPSC representation except me I'm afraid. Did get a bit hairy when the throttle stuck open at 12,000 revs :o
Anyone doing the Owen Motor Club Graham Hill Sprint on June 12th?

Can't remember whether I asked, Roger -- any interest in joining the fun at the WSCC sprint at Curby on 19th June? Virtually an entire event of kit-cars ;)

Oh, and forgot to say that, because of the way that MAC structures the class system Jim will receive a really rather elegant pot at the end of the season :)
