After a meeting between the FDMC Chairman and the 'Sq'd Leader' running this RAF MSA festival at Abingdon , my name was thrown in , along with another . Last night I phoned ' him ' regarding my invite and I'm in :P Looking forward to some more track time , right on my door step . It's not a competitive event but there will be some timed demo runs apparently ;)
Offering passenger rides is encouraged but can't really see a ' pilot ' being scared in a little old kit car

Roll on next Tuesday 8-)

Had a really great free day out at this RAFMSA festival day. There were many different types of cars there including WRC's like EVO , SUBARU , DARRION plus an OVAL racer , RADICAL , FLETCHER HORNET , CATERHAMS , WESTFIELDS , LOCOST , TIGER , RX7 circuit car and loads of motorbikes , some pretty quick. My friend took his ROTARY TWIN engined Westfield and that was bloody quick in a straight line but needed the handling sorted ---when that's done it will be crazy fast

Took out quite a few passengers with comments like , didn't really think it would be that quick or just F----- ing hell :!: Timed runs were done throughout the day but my only timed run was in the morning after the convoy so not really on the pace . It wasn't the Abingdon sprint course , just a course laid out for the RAF's day at 1.5 miles with 4 corners plus a bustop chicane .

3 cars were quicker than mine at 43 and 44 sec's mark against my 46 sec lap with passenger

I gave my ticket (handed a sort of raffle type ticket to us as we left the start line ) to the lads who'd just been out in my car to look at the times seeing as they were interested , so don't really know which cars they were . Watching some go round I'd guess the EVO rally car was one then of course there were bikes being timed too -- the Darrion looked quick , so not sure

Abingdon was dry and hot and as David said it was just the three of us pedalling JP penned cars . Good to meet you David and look at your very well prepared Striker . Your front ARB was a good solution to the space problem found in some CEC Sylva's ---- liked that  Your time on the Abingdon course was quick at 46.73 secs . Didn't see you after lunch but have sent you a PM regarding that.
I had a pretty good day , beating my 2008 times here but no ' gongs ' in the company I was keeping . The twin rotary engined Westy of my friend Brian was awesome , as expected and the handling imperfections didn't stop him getting 3rd in sports libre behind a JUNO and the Darrion of Colin Early . That very nearly made me 4th but the MG V8 on slicks pipped me in to touch by 1 sec on the Bentley course (1.11 sec's over the two combined courses) so 5th it was , from 8 in class . Behind me was a 6R4 , Anglia xe 225bhp on slicks then an EVO (not sure what tyres he was running) Even so , it got me 26th overall from the 150 entries and enjoyed trying :P
Nothing planned for while now :(
