Orange Striker XE

Postby David » Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:01 pm

Hi everybody. I'm David. I'm retired (at least mostly) and father of a kit-car mad (specifically Striker) family. Elder son Chris, younger son Guy, and I have spent most of the last five years trying to make our perfect sub-1700cc track Striker. Our road-legal orange Vauxhall 1600XE powered example ("Marmelade") is the result...................spec here: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/Sylva-Chat/web/david-chris-striker

We bought "Marmelade" in 2003, and had it SVA ready by May 2004, thinking we were building a toy for the road. Unfortunately, good though it was on the road, within a week or so we had tried a track day and never wanted to drive on the road again. A month later, Guy and I entered our first sprint (Chris was busy creating his family) -- and that is what we have done ever since, predominantly in the Westfield Sports Car Club Speed Series (hence the "Se7en Pervert" signature).

During 2008, Guy became more ambitious. He bought himself his own Striker, fitted it with Zetec power, and now races in the "kit-car" series with the 750MC.
Chris and I continue to campaign Marmelade in sprints.

[Oh, and we know marmalade is spelt with an "a" in English -- we had spent too much time on the continent when the car was "christened" ]

Se7en Pervert -- by definition; I don't drive a Caterham
