Hi to all.
I am looking to build a J15 in the near future.
Never built a kit car before, but I am an ex-RAF aircraft technician, so should be able to manage.....we will see....lol
Looks like there is plenty of good info and advice here about Jeremy's creations!

I am expecting to be using the 1.6L Sigma.
Has anyone done them using other engines besides the Sigma?

Aren't TORNADO's going for scrap ---- To be a touch more serious , deecee on this forum is putting a nice grunty 2 lt Duratec in his which should be lots of fun . It looks great sitting in the chassis with a beautifully sculptured exhaust manifold :P

My J15 race car has a superbike engine in it. See here for lots of wittering about. A nice photo in last week's Autosport of the car too.

Personally, for a road car I'd put a Subaru flat four in it. it fits (I've measured it!), it's low down and burbles. :D

Tim,

Do you need to "stretch" the chassis into a J16 like you have to fit a subaru engine in?
Of does the standard size work?

Matt

p.s. very much enjoying following your progress this year.

David. Re deecee's Duratec fitment ---- the manifold was made by an ex F1 guy in Aylesbury and is a work of art . Tim . Re -- the Subaru . I agree the nice thought with it sitting so low HOWEVER , I've driven two Subaru's in anger , both engines gave out within 3 laps . Very embarrasing as weren't my cars but my conclusion is that unless you have some trick bits , the standard engine can't take hard cornering or a change down at high rev's . Everybody raves about them so I was extremely shocked at my experience , as were the owners.
