Feels like I'm late to the party!

Postby Fury64 » Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:27 pm

Hi all,
I only discovered this forum a few weeks ago. Probably because my Fury has been off the road for the past 18years.

I bought my kit from Jeremy in early 93 (I think). Chassis number 64. It has Mk2 escort running gear with a 2lt Fiat twin cam and gearbox. The reason for it being off road for so long is in 2001 we moved from the UK to Texas. It was a hard enough job to get it imported let alone registered for the road, something I still haven't attempted. Now the kids are up and gone/going I have dug it out of the corner of my workshop and am enjoying restoring it as much as I enjoyed building it originally (except the wiring - I hate the wiring!).

I have rebuilt the twin weber 40s. I stripped out the old mini heater, don't need that in Texas. I'm currently converting the old standard
escort brakes to discs all round. Truth be told, I think I enjoy working on it as much as driving it - but then its been so long, I can't remember driving it!

Meanwhile I enjoy reading about others experiences, I believe these cars really were something special.

Mike.

Blimey, I thought that mine had a long rest at 9 years under cover.
I enjoyed revitalising it in the summer as well but you can't beat driving them.
