Stock Car Racing

Postby deecee » Thu Sep 05, 2013 7:08 pm

I used to go to New Cross Stadium in the 1960s to watch Speedworth stock car racing. Last night I went to see the same again at Eastbourne, the first time in well over 40 years. They used to play a very distinctive tune at the start of each race but of course that has changed now. Anyone any idea what the old tune was called? I know whenever I heard it I was back at New Cross immediately.

http://www.spedeworth.co.uk/formula.php?name=SS

Each race category here has a different rolling start music which can be downloaded.
If you browse each one, you might find what you want :P

Matt you are a genius :D The tune I was looking for is from the 1300 Stock Cars, but I still don't know the name of it :!:

OK for all those who have been mesmerised by this thread the tune is A Swingin' Safari (1962) by Bert Kaempfert

.......swingin safari? That's some seriously happy-go-lucky 1960s music right there.
I was expecting something a bit more raw, and rock-n-roll.
