Had a go at driving something very similar to this yesterday

Managed to engage first gear from standstill OK but for the life of me could not engage any gears once on the move. This resulted in a driver change while rolling down hill in the Hindhead tunnel! The owner phoned me later, full of apologies, he had forgotten to explain that the clutch had two positions. Full down for engaging first at standstill then only half way down to grab gears on the move. I must admit I felt a bit of an idiot until he let me know the problem.

Don't be silly the driving test not introduced in the UK until 1935.

Dare say you could still pass your test in one in 1935 though :?:
