Jerremy is currently away on holiday - he's finding it difficult to get his Full Bodied Riot finished and balancing the demands of the business. Catch 22 for him really - he needs to get the car done to promote and sell it but he also needs to do his daily bread and butter stuff to bring in the cash!!

Not heard from Jon recently but I know he was quite close. I'll drop him an email.

Hi Guys,

sorry for the lack of recent posts but have a bit busy with work getting in the way of playing!!

Done a little bit though. Had the top hats made and the front suspension/uprights are all in place for good now. Having the rear brake mountings made up at the moment so that should be done real soon.

Need some advice with the shortening of my driveshafts. I'd like them friction welded so there's no need for an over tube. Anyone had this done? I called a driveshaft specialist in Luton but he wanted to flog me a new pair of shafts! Might be my only option though if I can't find a friction welder.

Anyway got a little bit of time off over the next couple of weeks so hopefully have more to report.

Ok, so I have to ask... what did you do to get 194bhp out of a Zetec SE?! I'm looking at upgrading to the 1600 sometime in the future (I've got the 1242cc fitted into my
Mojo at the moment ) and I'd love to know what the best value/performance mods are?

Cracking motor by the way - you must be dead chuffed! Any more vids out there?

ported cylinder head
high lift cams
pocketed pistons
steel rods
active technology throttle bodies
larger injectors
and mapping at emerald rolling road

I built the engine my self so yes I am pleased with 194 bhp
thinking of fitting forged piston , bigger valves and new exhaust when I have the spare cash

Been following your build with great interest as I am about to start a Riot SE build. I remember talking to Jeremy recently and I recall him saying that he had found somewhere that would do friction welding on drive shafts. I could be wrong but worth an ask.

Apologies for the hijack but this maybe of use to others. I have found a chap who can supply Fiesta donor parts and has a few 1.6 zetec S models at the moment. He is a private breaker who sells on ebay. I dealt with him off ebay and gave him a list of what I wanted with specific instructions. He removed everything as instructed with great care, boxed it all up and organised shipment to me. Does not sound so exceptional but he was a pleasure to deal with. His name is Mel, ebay name madhatmel and his phone number is 01226 753707. I am in no way associated with him, I just believe in passing on good contacts.

Hi Richard,
I'm looking to get started on a Spectre quite soon and it's been great to see your build taking shape.
All the pictures of the first red Spectre made me think about a 'retro' look but your wheels against the yellow bodywork look really promising! I cant wait to see the finished effect with all the body panels on.
I was especially interested to see the double hoops. I was going to ask Jeremy if he could do that for me as it didn't look like there would be enough protection for a passenger and my son (and others) will often be enjoying track days with me.
Have you given any thought to extra bracing of those hoops? Only reason I ask is I'm thinking of entering hill climbs in the future and I suspect that would be a requirement (don't want to ruin those lines too much though! ).

For competition requirements you'd have to look in the Blue Book. Certainly for racing, and I suspect the same applies to sprinting, the requirement is for a full width hoop, with a diagonal brace and rearward stays. All in the right material and attached in the correct manner, of course. You might get away with a forward facing petty strut instead of the rear stays but it's certainly not compliant with the BB.

I'm building my Spectre for racing and there's no way on this earth you'd get me out in one without a cage...
